We help people with a lot of benefit related questions and problems because of the lack of a local Job Centre and Tax Office in Uttlesford. We can give you information on benefits and tax credits if you are working or unemployed, sick or disabled, a parent, a young person, an older person or a veteran. We can also help with council tax queries, housing costs, national insurance, payment of benefits and problems with benefits.
How we can help
We can carry out a full benefit check to make sure that you get all the help that you’re entitled to. We can also provide information about other support available such as help with living costs, rent, free prescriptions or school meals if you are on a low income. If you are applying for disability benefits, we have a specialist team who can help.
“The advice and help I was given has helped me living without the worry of facing each week wondering if I can make it to my pension payday. The advisers have been so kind and helpful in filling in the benefit forms, I know I could not have done it without your help.”
We regularly help with:
- General benefit checks
- Universal Credit applications
- Council tax support
- Pensions and pension credit
- Access to emergency support and foodbank referrals
- Applications to the Essential Living Fund

Benefit Calculator
Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to use an online benefit calculator to check which benefits you can get. You’ll need information about savings, income, pension, childcare payments and any existing benefits (for you and your partner).
