Are you an experienced, adaptable leader with a passion for driving operational excellence in a community-focused charity? Uttlesford Citizens Advice is excited to announce that we are recruiting a Head of Operations to join our dedicated leadership team.
About the Role
This is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of our local charity. Working directly alongside our CEO, the Head of Operations will provide clear, values-led leadership across our organisation, ensuring our frontline advice services run smoothly, effectively, and with maximum impact.
As Head of Operations, you will oversee day-to-day operations, lead operational plans, manage contracts, track performance KPIs, and ensure high standards of operational compliance. You will also directly line-manage key operational staff, including our Office Manager, Training Officer, Supervisors, and Caseworkers. Fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture.
Key Details at a Glance
- Hours: Part-Time | 3 days per week (22.5 hours)
- Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 FTE, dependent on experience (pro rata based on a 37.5-hour week)
- Location: Office-based in Saffron Walden (flexible/hybrid working options are available once trained depending on business needs)
- Reporting to: CEO
- Start Date: September 2026

Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a candidate educated to degree level (or equivalent professional experience) with significant operational leadership experience within a charity, advice agency, public sector, or similarly regulated setting. You will bring proven experience in line-managing teams, managing operational budgets and contracts, and using data to maintain high quality standards. Crucially, you will share our deep commitment to equality, diversity, and delivering person-centred services to our local community.
