JOIN OUR GREAT TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS!

Do you have a friendly telephone manner and can tick any one of the following?
* You want to help people
* You want to keep your brain active and learn new skills
* You love meeting people and want to make new friends?
* You want to enhance your CV?

If so we want to hear from you!

We are looking for local people to join our team.  No specific qualifications or previous experience is necessary – our volunteers come from all walks of life. You just need to be friendly, non-judgmental, willing to learn and be able to use a computer. You will receive full training and always have a supervisor available.

New volunteers initially undertake an Assessor role – this involves answering our phones, booking appointments, making food bank referrals, providing simple advice to clients or helping them to find information online.  You will be trained on the job by our supervisors, who are always available to answer questions and provide support.
Many Assessors choose to progress to full adviser training as they gain more experience and increase in confidence.  As an Adviser you could be: exploring and identifying clients’ problems, researching information using Citizens Advice resources and explaining options to clients or helping them make informed decisions about how to deal with their problems. You could also be acting on behalf of the client, negotiating, drafting or writing letters, making phone calls or appropriate referrals. For more information about the role of adviser, click here.

We ideally like you to volunteer for us 2 half days or one full day each week – this helps you keep up to date with changes in legislation or procedure.  Although our service continues throughout the year, including school holidays, we can be flexible if you have school aged children or other caring responsibilities, so please do talk to us.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community, so what are you waiting for?
