Citizens Advice Essex, the consortium of local Citizens Advice serving Essex, Southend and Thurrock, has entered into a long-term partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to set up and deliver a new specialist advice service providing expert welfare benefits advice to people diagnosed with cancer and their families.

The service aims to support individuals holistically, to ensure the financial effect of their diagnosis is mitigated by ensuring all possible benefits are claimed, other sources of financial support accessed and that they are referred to other Citizens Advice or Macmillan services where appropriate. 

We are therefore recruiting for a number of new posts.  Whilst the following post holders will be employed by Uttlesford Citizens Advice, they will be working as part of the wider team of Macmillan funded caseworkers.

Welfare Benefits Caseworkers

2 Full Time (37 hours) roles available (job share considered)

Salary: Circa £27,000 (FTE) 

Working with colleagues based in Harlow, Maldon, South Essex, Southend and Tendring, you will provide intensive, expert welfare benefits advice and casework to clients diagnosed with cancer and their immediate families.  Candidates will require a strong, testable and working knowledge of welfare benefits ideally obtained within a not-for-profit advice setting.

Welfare Benefits Caseworker Supervisor

Hours: 18.5 hours per week

Salary: FTE Circa £30,000

Working with another post holder based at Citizens Advice Harlow, you will ensure that, through support and supervision, a team of Specialist Welfare Benefits caseworkers working across the Citizens Advice Essex consortium is equipped, enabled and support to consistently provide high-quality advice and casework service to clients or members of their immediate family who have been diagnosed with cancer across Essex.

Client Support Administrator

Hours: 18.5 hours per week

Salary (actual): £10,000 per annum.

You will assist project casework supervisors in the overall quality and compliance management for Macmillan-funded services across the Citizen Advice Consortium.
