Volunteers’ week takes place from 1-7th June to celebrate the contribution made by millions of volunteers across the U.K.

At Uttlesford CAB we rely on a fantastic team of about 80 volunteers who work around 470 hours a week for the benefit of our community – the value of which is estimated to be approximately £378,000 a year!

Volunteering is about giving your time to a good cause, and in return getting a sense of making a positive difference to other people’s lives. It is a great way to meet people, make friends and can also help you back into the work place should you need it.

Our volunteers make Uttlesford CAB the great organisation it is; they advise clients, visit people in their homes, carry out admin roles, write press releases, act as Trustees; without them we simply would not exist!

“Being a volunteer in the disability benefits team feels like a privilege. I can use many of the abilities developed during my working life, and feel my help really helps people express the problems they are facing. And the positive feedback evident in the success rate of my clients is an added bonus. On top of it all, the role is flexible and can be easily adapted to my over full life.”

“It’s a privilege to share a little bit of what I am good at – lots of little bits make a WHOLE!”

“Working as a Trustee for Uttlesford CAB helps me to feel part of the local community and some of the fund raising activities are fun!”

“Uttlesford CAB changes lives every day and I’m proud to play a small part in that.”

“It’s a great opportunity to support a local charity and network at the same time.”

To mark Volunteers’ Week, Uttlesford CAB has put together a fun video celebrating our Happy Band of Volunteers, to whom we owe so much.  To view it go to YouTube or follow the link from our facebook page, we’d love you to ‘like’ us!  Or you can follow us on Twitter – we will be tweeting every day during Volunteers week @UttlesfordCAB
